Big slump

In preparation for our silver anniv I dont want my skin to be flaky and browny hence golf had to take a back seat for the time being.

I promise myself granting Rorys growth plan schedules, that I will come back with  a vengeance!

My lowest score ever

Been meaning to write something on my lowest ever round of 83 but kept in the pipeline for a while.

Well here goes. Reasons why I performed well that day.

First, I think it was an easy course. Meaning it is pretty flat, not in any way undulating and is in tip top shape.

Second, my flightmates were honorable buddies of mine at church and they make for good partners in golf as well. It is a light hearted round enjoying each others chat and war stories.

Third, its all about feeling good on that day. Believe that mood can make or break a golfer.

Lastly, expectations. I dont know about you but when I dont expect anything on a round its where I played my best.

Well golf is a game of contrast as they say. Foore!!

Core strength

I now appreciate the reason why handicapping system works.

For high handicap players, they will hate their game when they compare it to low handicap golfers.

For low handicap players, they will be be discouraged baby sitting high handicap on the course.

But if one plays according to his handicap level then both will enjoy and appreciate the game more.

Gentlemans Game

I found this interesting article on Golf Digest. Put my own words and interpretation notwithstanding. (with courtesy to the author of course).

1. Make the tee time. (like life, getting on time is vital, be it in business, in our personal lives etc)
2. Look your best.(like life, we should get out of bed looking our best to present ourselves daily, neat and tidy has more advantages)
3. Speed up. (speeding is relative, but being on time not only impacts your game but others as well)
4. Play as it lies. (like life, pick up or pass up an opportunity as it comes along. Those who maximize opportunity wins while those who pass up loses)
5. Keep calm and golf. (like life, level headedness goes a long way)
6. A good sport. (like life, being gracious in defeat and humble in victory is the mark of a true gentleman)
7. Course care. (like life, a gentleman leaves a place better than when he founds it)
8. Silence is golden. (gentlemen are brief.)
9. Be alert. (like life, alertness denotes being 'in the zone'. So like life, walk with heads up and ears open)
10. Safety. (its always a good practice to keep this in mind. No one wants to live in an unsecured and unsafe environment).

2015 Entree

This is my handicap as of April 2015, respectable 15.8. This came despite the severe cut back in my game with my 3rd boys arrival last January.

My goal this year is simply to maintain this number or up until a new "kaki" could come and challenge my game. Well Im heavily relying on my kid bros game to pick up in order that we enjoy the game together.

With the triathlon event looming in the horizon in July, all my energies is channeled to that event for now. Of course this involves attending to the kids and baby, my wife, my work, my social commitments and all.

Whew!!
